The Karate Kid has seen off the challenge from The A-Team to top the box office this weekend.
The Karate Kid, which sees Jaden Smith in his first major lead role alongside Jackie Chan, took $56 million in it's opening few days to comfortably take the number one spot.
The movie is a remake of the eighties classic and is directed by Harald Zwart, who brought us One Night At McCool's and Agent Cody Banks.
Work causes a single mother to move to China with her young son; in his new home, the boy embraces kung fu, taught to him by a master.
The A-Team, which sees Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley and Quinton Jackson take on the classic TV characters, had to settle for second as the film took $26 million.
After a fortnight at the top Shrek Forever After fell two places to number three, still taking $15.8 million.
There was also a two place drop for Get Him To The Greek, Killers and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time as they finished at four, five and six respectfully.
Sex and the City 2's poor showing at the U.S. box office continued as it was this week's biggest faller, dropped in three places from five to eight.
