Ashton Kutcher Pays Twitter Tribute To Brittany Murphy

Brittany Murphy's ex-boyfriend Ashton Kutcher has expressed his shock over the actress' untimely death in a sombre online post - insisting the world has "lost a little piece of sunshine".

Murphy passed away on Sunday (Dec 20, ‘09) after reportedly being found unconscious at her home.

A spokesperson for Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center confirmed the tragic news, but refused to give any details surrounding the cause of her death.

According to Tmz.com, Murphy could not be revived by paramedics and was pronounced dead on arrival.

And amid a flurry of tributes on the internet, Murphy's former lover Kutcher - who dated the star for a year before splitting in 2003 - took time to remember his ex, and pass on his condolences to her family.

Kutcher writes on his Twitter.com page, "2day (sic) the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany's family, her husband, and her amazing mother Sharon".

He also added a special note to Murphy "Seeyou on the other side kid".

The L.A. Coroner's office has reportedly launched an investigation into Murphy's death, with online speculation suggesting she passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest.
